What actually makes pollyloves truly engaging (apart from the name) is her instinct for a memorable song. She has a real and genuine feel for a punchy lyric and strong melody, a talent that has enabled her to produce a body of work that is versatile, both vocally and creatively.

She is very much “up there” in the talent stakes with other internationally respected girl singers and writers. Together with her passion for music and openness to sharing ideas, she is never short of musicians wanting to play, record and collaborate with her.

However, in the beginning she kept her musical ambitions to herself even though she had been writing songs on her dad’s 12-string guitar since school. She pursued an academic route and although she acted and sang in stage productions at Cardiff University, she graduated in 2002 with a degree in Journalism having never played a live gig.

Determined to change that, pollyloves headed for London where she pursued a career in public relations which helped fund her first studio recordings. With her demo in hand, steely determination to sing her songs and growing networking skills she was soon landing gigs in London's top acoustic venues including The Gardening Club, Halfmoon and Clapham Grand, even securing a live spot on ITV's This Morning.

She left London in 2007 to continue her marketing career in Cheltenham, in her spare time working on developing her portfolio of songs. Over the years she has built up a dedicated fan base who have witnessed a growing maturity in her song-writing and some clever collaborations. Earlier this year she recorded and launched an EP, 'The Raw Materials', with folk guitarist Ed Hanfrey and has recently left her marketing job to pursue her music full-time.

She is currently experimenting and creating new material with various musicians and producers based in London, as well as continuing to build her own profile and portfolio as pollyloves on the live music circuit.

pollyloves is tipped as the 'noughties' answer to Joni Mitchell with the skill, voice and charm to prove it.
